This article presents the results of a needs analysis on digital teaching and learning from the perspective of music and physical education teachers. The needs analysis was conducted in 2024 as part of the KuMuS-ProNeD project. 487 teachers were surveyed on the use of digital media in the classroom, their digital skills, and aspects of further training. Our results reveal a tension between technical challenges, traditional teaching practices, and the potential of new digital technologies for changing forms of design and movement. Teachers are particularly interested in concrete, methodologically and didactically sound continuing education opportunities on curriculum topics, but they also express reservations about digital media that stem from normative ideas about the subject matter of music and physical education. Effective training courses therefore should not only impart skills using practical examples, but ideally also should lead to greater openness towards professional transformation processes.
